Dear Mother,
Please get to know for me whether Algy has shifted or not because the first letter I sent to him I got an answer back but I have wrote two more times and have no received any reply. I think that job about going in the regular army has deepened thoughts. But that ain’t disheartened me. I have put in now to go into the ammunitions column and if I can’t get in that I shall keep trying at something, so as I get out of this lot here, before they are bout sending me dotty altogether. We have got about a foot deep in snow here, it snowed all day on Friday and I had to turn out in it at about 4 o’clock on Saturday morning. I wish Harry had been in that little lot. I had to go and guard the trenches, it took me up to my waist in some parts. I was about froze when I got back. Remember me to Aunt Rachel and Uncle Bill. I will now close hoping to hear from you sooner this time and with fondest of love to all, remain your loving son,
George
