We are out of the trenches again

September 5th 1915

Dear Mother

I was sorry I forgot to send you something for your birthday, but I will send something at the first opportunity if only a card. We are out of the trenches again and it is up to the shoe tops in slug and raining every day. I have received a letter from Aunt Rachel. I am sorry that I cannotĀ  remember you to Algy because he is wounded in the arm, but Bill Cave sends his best wishes and says he hopes it will not be long beforeĀ  he can see the old place again. ### #### ### ## #### ## ##### ##### ## ### ######## as I expect you will see in the papers later on, Well dear mother I cannot think of much more to tell you this time so will close with best of love and wishes

From your loving son
